Aileen Leventon

Improving the value of legal services is my focus. Working with large and smaller firms, practice groups, clients, in-house law department professionals and lawyers, as well as non-traditional legal service providers, I draw on my 20+ years of practicing law and as a consultant seeking to increase the effectiveness of the legal industry and drive outstanding economic results.

The results of my work are measurable as I seek to improve law firm profitability, manage legal spend to achieve corporate goals, and enhance client service delivery. Areas of expertise include legal project management, managing change, process improvement, data analytics, knowledge management, and sourcing. I have helped lawyers apply these disciplines to substantive law practice areas such as: commercial, toxic tort and IP litigation; mergers and acquisitions; corporate governance; industry regulation; trusts and estates; real estate leasing and sales; and environmental and energy law; as well work that spans specialties such as due diligence, e-discovery, contracting, and compliance operations.

As an active participant in legal industry standard-setting and peer organizations such as the ACC, CLOC and the ABA, my goal is to bridge the chasm that often exists between clients and their external counsel about ways in which to optimize the value of legal services. I am chair of the CLOC Legal Project Management Committee

By creating and sharing extensive resource materials, and speaking at industry and continuing education programs, I provide practical guidance on how lawyers and those supporting them can excel. I am the co-author of two books, Implementing Legal Project Management: The Legal Professional’s Guide to Success, and a new guidebook on using UTBMS Codes for Merger and Acquisition Transactions. As a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management, I seek to inspire excellence and innovation in law practice management.

Prior to joining Legal Shift, I led QLex Consulting Inc., was a partner in the legal management consulting practices at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and Blaqwell Inc., served as a principal at Edge International and practiced law in New York City. I am a graduate of Columbia Business School, and Cornell Law School, where I was managing editor of the Cornell Law Review. I am a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Stony Brook University (NY). In my free time I live the rural life in Kinderhook, NY, a historical agricultural community, where having transplanted after living most of my life in Manhattan.
